Why Choose Nomado to manage your campervan or Motorhome?

With years of experience in the campervan rental industry, we know what it takes to succeed. Here’s why owners trust us with their campervans and motorhomes:

  • Proven Track Record:  Over the past five years we have maintained an average 90% occupancy rate between October and April, ensuring high returns for owners.

  • Fleet Insurance: We can add your vehicle to our comprehensive fleet insurance to ensure that your investment is protected, no matter where the road takes your campervan. The insurance also covers you for your personal trips.
  • We attract guests: We invest a large amount of effort into attracting guests through on page search engine optimisation, targeted digital marketing, agent collaborations, Affiliate Marketing and guest referrals.
  • Expert Pricing Strategy: With extensive experience of the rental market, we know how to price and present your campervan to attract the right customers.

  • European Market Appeal: Our European background helps us connect with long-term European travelers, who make up a significant portion of our rental market.

  • Comprehensive Customer Support: We handle all guest inquiries, bookings, and on-road support, ensuring a smooth experience for renters.

  • Meticulous Maintenance: We maintain every campervan or motorhome to the highest standards, preventing costly issues and ensuring positive guest reviews.

  • Engaging Training Materials: We create detailed video walkthroughs and training guides to educate renters, reducing the risk of misuse and improving the rental experience.

OUR Campervan Requirements

Your campervan must meet New Zealand rental standards, be well maintained, and suitable for commercial hire.

Age & Condition

Your campervan should be no older than 10 years, in good condition, and a factory-built conversion (no self-converted vans). It must be mechanically sound, regularly serviced, and have all appliances in working order.

Up-to-Date Certifications

As your vehicle will be used for rentals, it requires a Certificate of Fitness (CoF) rather than a Warrant of Fitness (WoF). We can handle the CoF process for you at your cost. Additionally, your campervan must have all valid certifications, including Electrical Certification, Gas Certification and up to date Registration.

Self Containment

To provide the best experience for our guests, we only manage fully self contained vehicles. This means that your campervan or motorhome needs to have a full bathroom with a fixed toilet and shower as well as a kitchen, solar panels, fresh water & grey water & a heating option while freedom camping. If you do not have the green sticker, we can help organise this.

Transparent Management Fees & Pricing Structure

Potential Earning Example: Over a 12 months period for a 6 Berth Campervan in good condition you could be earning between 20,000 to $30,000 per year**.

Our campervan rental management outperforms most traditional investments – without the effort.

Send an Enquiry to Us

Send us an enquiry below and we'll get in touch to arrange a time to go through more details and review suitability of your vehicle. If you are interested in progressing, then we will arrange a viewing of your vehicle to determine what needs to be done to get it ready to add to our rental fleet.

Step 2

If we both decide to go ahead, we will sign a rental management agreement. We will do a comprehensive handover where we assess the current state of the campervan including any pre-existing damage. Once we have taken over your campervan or motorhome we will take photos, launch your listing and create training videos.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why should I have my camper managed through you rather than rent it out myself?

Renting out your campervan directly may seem like an easy way to generate income, but it comes with several challenges. First, you’re responsible for everything – from listing your camper to handling guest inquiries, coordinating bookings, cleaning the campervan and managing repairs. Additionally you'll need a rental insurance as your standard vehicle insurance does not cover you when renting out a campervan. There are a variety of peer to peer rental platforms like Camplify available for you to rent out your campervan yourself and they provide a type of rental cover for you, however due to the high volume of competition on these platforms, rental prices can be lower, you are fully reliant on their marketing efforts and you cannot tap into any other marketing channels. Based on feedback, the average income from peer-to-peer rental platforms for a 6-berth campervan is around $15-$22k – before factoring in your maintenance costs, repairs, subscription fees and other overheads. Also often they are not providing a full insurance cover, but instead a risk protection scheme which means that members pay contributions into a pool, from which claims may be paid—at the discretion of the board and subject to funding availability. When you choose to have your campervan managed by us, you benefit from a streamlined, hassle-free experience. Our service includes comprehensive marketing across multiple channels, direct access to our network of agents and customers, and management of all guest communication, bookings, and maintenance. With our management service, you could be looking at a net income of $20-$30k** AFTER our commission and maintenance fees – significantly higher than what you would make managing the van yourself. By partnering with us, you ensure steady income with minimal effort on your part, and you gain the advantage of a dedicated team working to maximize your camper's earning potential.

What type of campervans or motorhomes are you managing?

We are happy to manage any type of campervan or motorhome - from new to second hand, from 2 berth to 6 berth. It is important to us that your campervan is no older than 10 years, has been well maintained and is fully self contained. We require all our managed campervans and motorhomes to have a separate bathroom with toilet & shower, heating and hot water as well as solar panels and leisure battery. Your campervan must be able to be driven on a car license. We do not manage any self converteded campervans - your campervan or motorhome must be a professional conversion.

What if something gets damaged?

Our fleet rental insurance cover any damages from rentals as well as any damages by you as the owner, should anything happen. Our team will process the insurance claim with our insurance broker and arrange all necessary repairs.

How will my campervan or motorhome be stored?

When your campervan is not out for rental or prepared for a rental, it will be stored in a storage facility. While the storages spaces we have are not covered, we are happy to cover your campervan if you provide a storage cover to us.

What documentation will we sign?

Once we both agree to go ahead with a Campervan Management arrangement, we will sign a Rental Management Agreement that stipulates everything that we agree and the terms of the management. You are welcome to have the Rental Management Agreement reviewed by a lawyer. We will also sign a handover document that stipulates any existing damages and the current state of your campervan to ensure that the campervan will be returned in a similar state as we have received it from you.

I am just really worried that the guests will cause significant damage to my camper.

We totally understand that renting out your campervan or motorhome can be a bit scary as it is probably one of your most valuable possessions and we get personally attached. However, after running a campervan rental business for over 4 years, we can assure you that we take very good care of the campervans and motorhomes. All of our vehicles are still pretty much in the same state as they were when we bought them as we look after them very well and immediately address any damage to them. You are welcome to have a look at our current fleet to provide you some assurance that your vehicle will be in very good hands.

Do I need to be based in Auckland?

No, it does not matter where in New Zealand you are based - in fact we even manage campers with owners from overseas - as long as you are happy for your campervan or motorhome to be based with us in Auckland.

I have not bought a campervan / motorhome yet. Will you be able to help?

Absolutely. If you are planning on buying a campervan with the intention of having it managed through us, we are happy to provide you with guidance on your requirements and the best rental options and also can consider looking at the campervan together with you to ensure it meets all criteria and is in good condition. We also have a range of second hand and new campervans for sale, so can provide you with good guidance on the best vehicle for you and for your rental.

Can I use the campervan or motorhome myself?

Absolutely. Just because we are managing your campervan or motorhome doesn't mean you don't get to use it for your own holidays. Just let us know when you want to use your campervan and we will block these dates out for you. *Restrictions: not available in peak season from December to February and if there are already existing bookings for the requested dates.

Can you help me sell my motorhome once I don't want to rent it out anymore?

We are happy to consider selling your campervan on your behalf. We will discuss a commission that covers our times and efforts to market the campervan and show to potential customers.
